Exceptional Service
by Michael C. Keith
Genre: Humour
Swearwords: None.
Description: A driver discovers how serious a delivery service is.
_____________________________________________________________________
A Fed Ex truck pulled out in front of me and moved very slowly down Route 6. I looked to see what was ahead of it and saw another Fed Ex truck. Then to my surprise, I noticed an endless row of Fed Ex trucks beyond it. I checked my rear view mirror, and there was a Fed Ex truck closing in on my bumper, and another trailing it. As I approached a busy intersection, a stream of Fed Ex trucks appeared from both the left and right lanes. Adding to my growing puzzlement, a fleet of Fed Ex trucks spilled onto the road from every side street I passed. Suddenly a Fed Ex truck came up along side of me – nearly colliding with an oncoming Fed Ex truck. The driver in it signaled for me to pull over. With mounting anxiety, I turned into the parking lot of a strip mall. As I climbed from my car, the Fed Ex driver did the same from his truck. In an instant, his vehicle was joined by dozens of other Fed Ex trucks, their drivers emerging from them. A look of great purpose covered their weathered faces. Before I could ask what was going on, a chorus of voices chimed: We have a same day delivery for you, sir!
