Both tales come from the restless, questioning pen of Turriff-based author Cally Phillips. In Duck!, Cally makes a tongue-in-cheek examination of the inflated importance of swans. Then her mood turns more serious in A Fishing Line; ostensibly about a man’s obsession with fried fish, it’s a simple fable conveying a deeper moral.
And if you would like to read more of Cally’s stories, go no further than her seminal The Stabbin o’ Rizzio here on McStorytellers. Or get yourself over to Amazon and download Voices in ma heid, a fistful of her stories also written in Scots dialect.
