Bruce cam runnin’ oot
the cave
His way wis barred by foes
They'd huntit him for monie a mile
(which kept him on his toes)
A lang, lang dirk wis in yin haun
An aix wis in the ither
Weel airmed he clattered intae them
Jist like Bruce Lee's wee brither
A choppin', slashin' whirlwind
Their airms an' heids he sned
It wisnae very lang afore
Those dozen foes lay dead
O'er the hill cam Bruce's men
An' sic a sicht they saw
A dozen corpses at his feet
An' on him no a scratch at a'
Shouts o' "Weel done, Sir King"
Wi monie jests an' laughs
"Aye that wis braw," they said wi' awe
"How ye sorted oot they gnyaffs"
"Och, I nivir seen them in ma road
"I wis only wantin' oot
"I seen a muckle spider in that cave
"I decided then tae scoot"
So there ye are, the truth at last
Let it circle roond the globe
Robert Bruce, High King of Scots
Wis really an arachnaphobe.
